The most Tua Ki in Northen Malaysia

Long before Petronas Twin Towers come into the picture, KOMTAR (Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak), is tallest building in Malaysia when it was completed in 1986. It is located in the heart of George Town. When the skyscraper topped out it was the tallest building in Asia, by the time construction was completed it had however been surpassed by Seoul's Korean Life Insurance Building (KLI 63 Building). The 65-storey tower is a 12-sided geometric block, 760ft (232m) tall, sitting atop a 4-storey podium. The complex comprises office and retail commercial space as well as public and recreational facilities

The management of this building is now in hands of a company closely connected with UMNO and has ever since in degraded mode.

It is so badly maintained that in the past year there has been calls from NGOs in Penang to turn this building into Swift birdnest harvesting hub in view of so many vacant lots in it.
